REDLANDS, CA – Authorities in California are searching for a married couple in their 70s after they apparently vanished from their home at the Olive Dell Ranch nudist resort, leaving behind their car and phones.
Stephanie Menard, 73, and her husband, Daniel Menard, 79, were last seen at their residence on the 26000 block of Keissel Road at around 10 a.m. on Aug. 24, and were reported missing on Aug. 25, the Redlands Police Department said in a statement Tuesday. Their white Shih Tzu, Cuddles, is also missing.
Police said the Menards’ unlocked vehicle was located down the road from their home. Stephanie Menard’s purse was found inside their residence along with both of their phones. Daniel Menard is diabetic and has dementia, police said, making the couple’s disappearance all the more urgent.
Sandy Marinelli told CBS Los Angeles that a neighbor became concerned when the couple wasn’t ready as usual to go to church on Sunday, and checked their home, finding the TV and computer left on, along with Stephanie Menard’s purse.
“I just want them back,” Marinelli told the outlet. “I’m terrified. I haven’t slept since this happened.”
Residents said the incident is especially suspicious considering a recent rash of vandalism and break-ins.
“I’m terrified that I’m gonna be next,” Marinelli said.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
