The LAPD on Monday said 14-year-old Amoria Brown and her 3-week-old daughter Omoria were last seen at around 9 p.m. Sunday on the 5200 block of East Huntington Drive.
At the time, they were with a girl described as Amoria’s sister-in-law, 15-year-old Sanaii Brown. Sanaii was originally described as also missing, but she has since returned to relatives, per reports.
Amoria and her daughter were believed to be traveling to high desert north of Los Angeles, police said.
Amoria’s guardian, Raquel Brown, told NBC News that the girl called her family to tell them she and the baby were OK, but the newborn has serious health issues requiring daily medication, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
“I just want the baby to be OK,” Brown told the outlet. “She’s not a bad mom. I’m not going to say that she’s bad. She’s young. I can’t just expect her to change overnight, so I do want to make that clear, but I’m here to help.”
Amoria is described as Black, with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. she was last seen wearing a multicolored shirt, gray shorts and gray sandals.
