WALKER, MN – Minnesota‘s beloved Moondance Jam Festival, known for its iconic lineup of classic rock legends, has been thrown into chaos. Just two weeks before the event, fans were stunned by a drastic change in the lineup, prompting a wave of backlash and demands for refunds.
What started as a promise of rock royalty quickly turned into a scramble for solutions, leaving fans and organizers grappling with an unexpected crisis.
Festival Faces Major Lineup Changes
Moondance Jam, a beloved music festival in northern Minnesota, has announced significant changes to its lineup just two weeks before the event. Scheduled for July 18-20 in Walker, Minnesota, the festival initially promised headliners like Kansas, Steve Augeri of Journey, and Creed, alongside classic rock acts such as Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, and The Sweet.

Economic Challenges Prompt Changes
Citing the “present economic climate,” organizers have decided to overhaul the lineup, now focusing solely on regional acts. The festival has been renamed “Camp Moondance” and will feature local bands like Johnny O’Neil, Mallrats, and Aortic Fire. Tribute bands, including The Band That Fell to Earth: A Tribute to David Bowie and A Hard Day’s Night (a Beatles tribute band), will also perform.

Refund Policy Announced
Initially, no refunds were offered to disappointed fans. Ticket holders were assured their tickets would be honored, with the added bonus of receiving four extra tickets at the gate.
Options to exchange tickets for other events, such as Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos on August 9 or the Moondance Harvest Moon Festival on September 21, were also available. Camping passes were set to roll over to next year’s event.

However, following backlash, Moondance Jam has decided to offer full refunds to those who choose not to attend the revamped festival. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Kathy Bieloh, the festival’s owner, explained the difficult decision. She expressed deep regret and emphasized that the changes were unavoidable due to financial constraints.
Call for Support
Despite the disappointment, Bieloh urged fans to support the reimagined event. “We are sincerely sorry that this decision had to be made,” she wrote. “I am personally asking you to support me and our Moondance crew and join us at Camp Moondance being held on the same dates.”
