CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Early on New Year’s Day, chaos erupted in Chester, Virginia, when a car crashed into a townhome. The driver, however, wasn’t just injured—he was found dead with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle.
Crash Scene and Fatal Discovery
The Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the crash around 1 a.m. on January 1, 2025. The incident took place on the 14900 block of Broadwater Way, a residential neighborhood in Chester, located south of Richmond.
When officers arrived, they discovered a vehicle had smashed into a townhome, with the driver—an adult man—found deceased inside the car, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Investigation Details and Official Statement
Matthew Dunn, a spokesperson for the Chesterfield County Police, said, “I do think it was an isolated incident. We’re following up on every lead possible.”
Investigators are still working to piece together what happened, though at this time, no further details have been revealed about the circumstances leading to the shooting.
