ST. PAUL, MN – Mark your calendars! There are two special days this summer where you can experience our country’s National Parks for FREE!
Grab your hiking boots, pack a picnic, and get ready for an adventure! There is free entry to every national park on June 19, 2024, in honor of the Juneteenth holiday.
The next free day is August 4, 2024 – which is officially “Great American Outdoors Day”. There’s tons of fun activities and special events planned at parks across America.
429 Parks to Choose From!
When we say every national park, we mean it! All 429 sites within the National Park System are included. That means you can visit not just the big names like Yellowstone and Yosemite, but also lesser-known gems like national battlefields and seashores.
With so many options, there’s truly something for everyone. Don’t know what national parkers are near you? Don’t worry this website will help you find them.
According to the National Park Service, the goal of these free admission days is to help people discover and enjoy all the incredible natural, cultural, historical, and recreational opportunities that national parks have to offer.
More Free Days Coming Up
If you can’t make it on June 19 or August 4, don’t worry! There are still two more chances to visit for free. Mark your calendar, because these are the free days for 2024:
- April 20: Kick-off of National Park Week
- June 19: Juneteenth
- August 4: Great American Outdoors Day
- September 28: National Public Lands Day
- November 11: Veterans Day
And if you’re a military service member, veteran, or have a permanent disability, you can enjoy free entry any time of year. Fourth graders and their families also get in free through the Every Kid Outdoors program.
Tips for Your Visit
Before you head out, be sure to check the National Park Service’s event calendar to see what’s happening at your favorite park. Visit their website here. And don’t forget to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection—after all, you’ll be spending the day in nature’s playground!
One last thing to keep in mind: while entry fees are waived during these special days, some parks may still charge for parking, access to specific facilities, or other activities. But with so much to see and do for free, it’s still an amazing deal.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore the breathtaking beauty of America’s national parks! Happy travels!
