The fire broke out at Royal, a facility specializing in high-performance lubricating oils and greases, located near the Arkansas River. The Tulsa Fire Department responded quickly, describing the scene as a “large fire” requiring significant resources to combat. By 10:30 a.m., authorities announced the closure of Charles Page Boulevard between South Gilcrease Museum Road and South 33rd West Avenue.
In a social media post accompanying a photo of the thick black smoke, the fire department wrote: “Please find alternate routes of travel as firefighters work to get the fire under control.”
