CONCORD, NH – A New Hampshire man is heading to prison after being convicted for his role in a conspiracy to intimidate journalists who reported on allegations involving a local business figure.

Details of the Harassment Plot and Sentencing

Michael Waselchuck, 36, was sentenced to 21 months behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges linked to stalking and harassment across state lines, according to federal prosecutors in Massachusetts.

Waselchuck wasn’t alone in this scheme. He and three others—Eric Labarge, Tucker Cockerline, and Keenan Saniatan—were charged with coordinating a campaign of intimidation.

The group’s actions were in response to an article published in March 2022 by New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR), where reporters had uncovered accusations of sexual misconduct involving a New Hampshire businessman.

Labarge, reportedly a close associate of the businessman, led the effort to retaliate against the reporters by targeting the homes of one of the journalists and the journalist’s family.

He recruited Cockerline, who carried out acts of vandalism at the journalist’s family home in New Hampshire and then at their personal home in Massachusetts. Cockerline later brought in Waselchuck to assist in further acts of harassment.

The attacks escalated in May 2022 when offensive graffiti was spray-painted on the garage door of the journalist’s family home, and bricks were left at both residences. Waselchuck was involved in throwing a brick through a window and spray-painting threatening messages on the journalist’s home in Melrose, Massachusetts.

While Waselchuck has been sentenced, his co-conspirators are at different stages in the legal process. Cockerline was sentenced to 27 months in prison, while Labarge and Saniatan are awaiting their penalties.
