Realtor’s Shocking Killing Spree

This is NewsChat: your source for the Truth in today’s news. Today is Tuesday, January 14, 2025 and I’m your host Jack Norton from JackAndKitty.com.

A North Carolina real estate agent is in custody after a deadly rampage that left three people dead across multiple locations in Greenville.

Authorities say 55-year-old David Lever simply snapped. He first shot and killed Enrique Reyes, 64, after the victim returned home from grocery shopping.

Lever then drove to a nearby gas station, where he reportedly fired shots from his van before heading to Peace Ridge Court, where more gunfire was reported.

He ultimately arrived at the home of Anthony and Paula Gribble, aged 80 and 76, and allegedly killed the couple.

The Gribbles’ son confronted Lever at the scene and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

Law enforcement discovered over 50 firearms in Lever’s home and additional weapons in his van.

Deputies believe Lever may have been planning further attacks if he hadn’t been stopped.

Lever, who was previously considered a respected member of the community and a partner at a real estate firm, is now being held without bond.

Investigators are still working to establish a motive, as there appears to be no clear connection between Lever and his victims.

When a respected real estate agent is accused of killing three people seemingly without any motive or any connection to the victims, it raises difficult questions about the nature of evil in our world today.

From a biblical perspective, such senseless acts may point to more than just human wrongdoing—they may involve demonic possession.

Throughout scripture, there are multiple accounts of people being overtaken by demonic forces, resulting in irrational and destructive behavior.

In Chapter 5 of the book of Mark, Jesus encounters a man possessed by a legion of demons, who lives in isolation and displays violent tendencies.

This account shows that demonic possession can drive individuals to commit acts far beyond the realm of normal human behavior.

While the physical evidence of this crime is clear, the spiritual dimension may reveal a deeper battle taking place.

Christians are called to pray for deliverance from evil and to stand firm in spiritual warfare.

Ephesians 6:11 urges believers to “put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

In light of this tragedy, prayer for the victims, their families, and even the suspect is essential.

Moreover, it is a reminder that the battle against evil isn’t only fought in the natural world but also in the spiritual realm.

Christians must remain vigilant, trusting in God’s power to overcome darkness and bring healing where chaos has reigned.

Man Stalks WNBA Star Caitlin Clark

A 55-year-old man from Denton, Texas has been arrested in Indianapolis, Indiana for allegedly stalking WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark.

The suspect, Michael Thomas Lewis, was charged with one count of stalking after reportedly sending Clark a series of disturbing messages through social media starting on December 16.

The messages, some of which were very explicit, included claims that he drove by Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where Clark’s team plays, three times a day.

Police traced the messages to a local hotel and downtown library, where they found Lewis, who admitted he was visiting from Texas but described the messages as part of an imaginary relationship and a joke.

Clark, 22, told investigators that the situation made her fearful and caused her to alter her public appearances and routines.

Prosecutor Ryan Mears praised her courage, noting how difficult it can be for victims to come forward.

Lewis remains in custody as the case proceeds.

You know, friends, stalking is no joke. When Kitty and I had a television show on PBS Kids, we even dealt with a stalker – and I can tell you first hand just how insane things can get.

Caitlin Clark’s experience with stalking and harassment reflects how sin can manifest in destructive behavior, causing fear and distress in the lives of others.

As believers, we are also called to take action when we see wrongdoing.

Whether through supporting victims, creating safer communities, or working against harmful behavior, we are called to reflect God’s justice and compassion in our actions.

Lastly, this story reminds us to pray—for Caitlin Clark, for those in fear or danger, and even for individuals like the suspect, that they may experience repentance and transformation through God’s grace.

It’s only through His love that true healing and change can occur in the hearts of people.

Mystery of Missing Woman’s Death

A tragic story out of Fayetteville, North Carolina, where 25-year-old Heather Williams was found dead days after she was last seen getting into a light-colored car on January 4.

Police discovered her body in a wooded area on January 10 and have since launched a homicide investigation.

Williams, who had cognitive impairments from a 2015 car accident, was considered endangered at the time of her disappearance.

Despite her challenges, she worked hard to live as independently as possible.

Investigators located the vehicle believed to be involved and identified a person of interest, though no arrests have been made.

Authorities also traced a brief phone call Williams made shortly before she vanished.

Her family, deeply shaken by the loss, is urging anyone with information to step forward, as police continue working to solve the case.

As Heather’s family mourns and searches for answers, we are reminded that God sees every injustice and offers comfort to the grieving.

Proverbs 31:8-9 tells us, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves… defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

In times like these, the Christian response is to pray for justice, support those who are suffering, and trust that God’s presence is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).

As we lift Heather’s family in prayer, we hold onto the hope that truth will prevail and that God’s ultimate justice will bring healing.

Please keep Heather’s family as well as the police investigators in your prayers.

Finally, a mother went to wake her son for church one Sunday morning. When she knocked on his door, he said, “I’m not going!” “Why not?” asked his mother. “I’ll give you two good reasons,” he said. “One, they don’t like me. Two, I don’t like them.” His mother replied, “I’ll give you two good reasons why YOU WILL go to church. One, you’re 47 years old. Two, you’re the pastor!”
