750-Mile Revenge Arson

This is NewsChat: your source for the Truth in today’s news. Today is Friday, February 21, 2025 and I’m your host Jack Norton from JackAndKitty.com.

A Michigan man allegedly drove over 750 miles to Pennsylvania and set fire to his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend’s home while six people were inside. Some residents had to jump from the second floor to escape the flames. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Harrison Jones, was arrested in Michigan and faces multiple charges, including attempted homicide and arson.

Friends, vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to man (Romans 12:19). When we let bitterness control our hearts, it leads to destruction. Instead, we are called to forgive and trust God for justice, knowing that harboring anger only leads to ruin.

Texas Hammer Murder

A Texas man, 35-year-old Jarell Joseph, is accused of brutally killing his mother with a hammer in Houston. His stepbrother walked in on the gruesome scene and called their father in a panic. Authorities say Joseph had a history of mental illness and domestic violence and showed no emotion when arrested.

Friends, the Bible calls us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12), yet sin and brokenness can drive people to unthinkable acts. This tragedy is a stark picture of how unchecked anger, mental illness, and sin destroy lives.

In times like these, it helps to focus on hope, kindness, and faith—values we share in Jack and Kitty’s Feel-Good Stories for Women. If you need uplifting stories, grab a copy for just $1 as an eBook at JackAndKitty.com/IFeelGood.

Lost Baby Seal in Downtown

Finally today, an adorable baby gray seal was discovered stranded in downtown New Haven, Connecticut, miles from the ocean. Rescuers from Mystic Aquarium took him in for care, finding him underweight and dehydrated. Experts hope to rehabilitate him and release him back into the wild. For pictures, visit JackAndKitty.com.

Friends, God’s creation is filled with wonders, and even this tiny seal’s struggle reflects His care for all creatures (Matthew 6:26). Just as rescuers stepped in to help this lost animal, Christ rescues us when we stray, guiding us back to where we belong.
