Trump Cuts Put Parks in Peril

This is NewsChat: your source for the Truth in today’s news. Today is Monday, March 3, 2025 and I’m your host Jack Norton from JackAndKitty.com.

Trump’s National Park Service layoffs, slashing 1,000 jobs in February, are shaking up America’s parks as the 2025 visitor season nears, with some parks closing on Mondays and Tuesdays and some losing nearly all supervisors.

With 300 million visitors expected and a leaner staff—down from years ago despite a jump from 281 million guests in 2010 to 325 million in 2023—campers might face trash pile-ups, delayed openings, and safety risks tied to past park deaths.

The National Park Service is scrambling to hire 7,700 seasonal workers, but disruptions loom large.

Friends, scripture calls us to steward God’s creation faithfully, so these cuts challenge us to pray for wisdom in balancing budgets with care for nature.

Let’s lift up affected workers and visitors, trusting God to provide peace and solutions amid uncertainty. Please continue to pray for America and the Trump Administration.

Revenge Gone Wild

In Florida, a revenge plot backfired when two teen girls, ages 18 and 16, trashed a black Infiniti with yellow paint and eggs, aiming for an ex-boyfriend who owed $700—only to hit an innocent neighbor’s car, racking up $5,000 in damages.

Caught with paint-stained pants, marijuana, and alcohol, the duo now faces criminal mischief charges, with the older girl adding DUI and delinquency counts.

The ex dodged the mess, but the teens didn’t dodge the cops.

Always remember, vengeance belongs to God alone, and this chaotic mistake shows the fallout of taking justice into our own hands

Pray for these teens to find repentance and grace, and for the neighbor to experience Christ’s love through this ordeal.

Boy’s Brave Rescue

Finally today, some heartwarming news. An eight-year-old boy named Colton became an unlikely hero in White Mountain, Alaska, after leaping from a window into snow to save his family from a deadly house fire that trapped his grandma and mom.

Barefoot and fearless, he fetched a firefighter who rescued them—leaving the family homeless but alive, with Colton’s bravery earning praise and community support.

His quick action stopped a tragedy from spreading further.

Friends, Jesus said greater love means laying down your life for others, and Colton’s courage reflects that truth in action.

Praise God for this young boy’s boldness, and pray for his family’s restoration as the body of Christ steps up. If you want to help out with their GoFundMe campaign, we have a link on our blog – just follow the show notes.
