A Sudden Tragedy Amid the Marathon’s High Spirits

Around 12:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man, whose name has not been publicly released, fell from either a window or a fire escape on South Sixth Street near Bedford Avenue, according to local reports.

Emergency responders found the man “unconscious and unresponsive on the ground with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position,” according to a police statement.

The man was quickly transported to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. The police told the New York Post that, while foul play is not suspected, an investigation is still underway to determine the exact circumstances of the fall.
