LOS ANGELES, CA – An off-duty Los Angeles, California police officer accidentally shot himself while handling his personal firearm. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the officer’s home around 4 p.m.
The officer, who has not been identified, was in the process of removing his holstered pistol from his waistband when the gun discharged unintentionally. The bullet struck the officer in the hip.
The injury was not life-threatening, and the officer received treatment at a nearby hospital before being released. Authorities confirmed that no one else was injured in the incident.
The LAPD’s Force Investigation Division is looking into the matter.
