MOORE, OK – A young boy in Moore, Oklahoma turned a quiet day into a flurry of activity with an unexpected call to 911. The child, named Bennett, reached out to emergency services with a pressing request—not for help in a crisis, but for doughnuts. What followed was a lighthearted exchange that ended with police officers showing up at his doorstep, treats in hand.
A Call for Doughnuts
The Moore Police Department released audio of the incident on social media last Thursday, revealing Bennett’s hilarious determination.
The toddler first dialed 911, mumbling unclear words to the dispatcher before disconnecting. Undeterred, he called back, this time making his needs crystal clear.
“Doughnuts? I want doughnuts,” the dispatcher responded playfully after Bennett declared an “emergency need for donuts.”
The conversation took a funny turn when the dispatcher asked, “Are you going to share your doughnuts?” Bennett’s firm reply? “No, I’m not.”
The toddler doubled down, insisting, “911, it is an emergency.”
When pressed further by the dispatcher’s “An emergency?” he clarified, “Emergency doughnuts.”
His resolve left no room for doubt—this was serious business.
Police Step Up
By the next day, the tale had a sweet ending.
Officers from the Moore Police Department decided to make Bennett’s day, delivering a box of Dunkin’ doughnuts straight to his home.
A video shared online captured the moment an officer told the excited boy, “You called us about doughnuts. We came to give you some doughnuts.”
Bennett’s response was a gleeful “Yes!” as he and his brother dove into the box, each grabbing a sugary prize.
The Power of an Old Phone
How did a toddler pull this off? The police explained that Bennett used an old cellphone, a device stripped of modern features but still capable of dialing 911.
“Old cell phones may be unable to use high-speed data networks, take photos or play music, but they can still call 911 in an emergency,” the department noted.
“As long as an old cell phone is functional, it can be used in an emergency.” Bennett’s clever move proved that even outdated tech can spark a little magic—and a lot of doughnuts.
Ok, now I’m hungry for doughnuts, y’all!
