SALEM, OR – A car crash on a quiet Oregon road took a sinister turn when police uncovered the body of a murder victim being secretly transported by the driver, sparking a homicide investigation that left area residents stunned.

Early Monday morning, around 6:30 a.m., deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident on Corvallis Road in Independence. What seemed like a routine crash quickly turned into a gruesome crime scene when officers discovered a woman’s body inside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Tyler Andrew Holman of Salem, sustained injuries in the crash and was rushed to the hospital. However, investigators at the scene determined the woman had not died in the crash. According to police, this suggested her body had been placed in the car prior to the accident, indicating a far more disturbing situation.

Woman Shot, Investigation Reveals Disturbing Details

The Oregon State Medical Examiner confirmed the woman had died from a gunshot wound, officially ruling her death a homicide.

The victim was later identified as 35-year-old Ashley Jean Gandolfi, a woman with prior ties to Holman. Detectives learned the two had been in a romantic relationship before the tragic incident.

As the investigation unfolded, police executed a search at Holman’s residence, uncovering further evidence linking him to the crime.
