PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A Mercedes Benz driver has been arrested following an alleged road rage incident in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he reportedly brandished a gun and assaulted two people. The confrontation, which was captured on video, took place around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to local police.

The incident began when the driver, identified as 63-year-old Paul Slane, allegedly stopped his black Mercedes abruptly, causing the victims, who were in a white pickup truck, to swerve around him to avoid a confrontation.

Despite their efforts, Slane reportedly followed them to their gated community, driving aggressively and eventually displaying a handgun.

Cellphone footage captured by the pickup’s passenger shows Slane exiting his car, approaching the truck, and angrily gesturing while shouting. He then lunged toward the driver’s side window, apparently trying to grab the passenger’s phone.

During the altercation, Slane allegedly struck both the driver and passenger. The video also reveals that the pickup driver was armed, with a gun positioned discreetly between his legs.

At one point, the driver can be heard asking his passenger, “Should I shoot him?”

It remains unclear whether Slane was aware of the other driver’s firearm or if it was ever shown during the encounter.

No shots were fired during the incident. Slane fled the scene but was later apprehended by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies. The handgun involved in the confrontation was recovered by police.

Slane now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted armed robbery, and simple battery.
