ORLANDO, FL – A 51-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a SunRail train in Orlando, Fla., officials said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at around 2:45 p.m. when a southbound SunRail train struck the pedestrian on the outside track at South Orange Avenue and Pine Street.
Investigators say the victim sat on the tracks and walked in front of the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A roadblock was implemented on Pine Street as troopers investigated.
FHP said there were no transports to the hospital from the train, but it was unclear whether there were any passengers on board.
SunRail trains P323 Southbound and P324 Northbound were initially delayed, then canceled, due to police activity. A bus bridge was implemented between the Sand Lake Road and Meadow Woods stations.
The crash remains under investigation.
