PITTSBURGH, PA – A Pennsylvania man is facing multiple charges for allegedly trying to bring a weapon disguised as a cane into the Allegheny County Courthouse on Monday morning, authorities said.

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said Stephen Ratulowski, 40, entered the Allegheny County courthouse via the Grant Street entrance at 9 a.m. Monday morning carrying “a red cane-like implement.”

When the purported cane was scanned by security, they “immediately noticed two sharp items inside and notified our deputies.”

The dismantled cane revealed a 4-inch dagger and a 4-inch “fork type dagger” hidden inside.

Ratulowski was arrested and charged with two counts of prohibited offensive weapons and one count of possession of a weapon in a court facility.

He was booked into the Allegheny County Jail for arraignment and was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 12.
