MEDINA, MN – Polaris Industries, a Minnesota-based company, is recalling thousands of its Ranger recreational off-road vehicles (ROVs) and Sportsman all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) due to serious fire hazards. This announcement comes from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Details of the Ranger ROV Recall

The first recall affects about 10,500 model year 2024 Ranger XD 1500 and Crew XD 1500 ROVs sold in the U.S., along with around 660 units in Canada. Also included are approximately 1,336 winches. The wiring in these winches can overheat during operation, posing a significant risk of fire and injury. Polaris has received one report of a fire linked to this issue, though no injuries have been reported.

These recalled vehicles were available in three and six-seat configurations, and the winches, with part numbers 2889275 and 2889276, were sold as accessories. They were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from February 2023 through August 2024, priced between $40,000 and $50,500.

Consumers are urged to stop using the winches on the affected ROVs immediately and to contact an authorized Polaris dealer for a free repair.

The ATVs may leak fuel at the pump flange outlet, creating similar fire and injury hazards. Polaris has received 14 reports of fuel leaks and three reports of fires, but no injuries have been reported in this case.
