Massive Produce Recall: Are You at Risk?
BLOOMINGTON, MN – Shoppers, beware! A massive recall has hit 18 states, and your favorite veggies might be contaminated. The FDA has expanded a previous recall, and the list of affected produce keeps growing.
If you bought cucumbers, peppers, green beans, or other veggies recently, you might want to check your fridge ASAP. This shocking recall affects popular stores like Walmart, Aldi, and Kroger.
The Expanding Danger Zone
Last week, the FDA announced a recall of cucumbers sold at Walmart in three states. But things have taken a dramatic turn. Now, the recall includes a variety of produce and has spread across 18 states.
Wiers Farm Inc., based in Ohio, has issued the expanded recall due to potential Listeria contamination. Though no illnesses have been reported yet, this move is all about preventing a possible health crisis.
The States Affected… So Far!
The contaminated produce was packed between July 5 and 12. It has been distributed to select grocery stores in these states:
Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
If you do not live in these states but have friends and family that do – forward this article to them immediately! If you live in one of these states and shop at Walmart, Aldi, or Kroger, it’s time to be extra cautious.
What to Do Next
Check your vegetables! If you have any produce that might be part of this recall, do not eat it. Return it to the store where you bought it or throw it away.
The FDA advises against consuming any of these potentially contaminated veggies, even if they look and smell fine. Listeria can cause serious infections, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
