MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Two individuals have been charged following a violent robbery and shooting in Minneapolis. The crime occurred on a Tuesday night after the victim had won $1,000 from pull tabs at a local bar.
Anthony Clifford Ferrara, 35, and Charles Jesse Schroedl, 38, face serious charges including first-degree assault and aggravated robbery. The charges stem from an attack on a man who had just left the Vegas Lounge bar, located at 965 Central Avenue.
Details of the Attack
According to the criminal complaint, Ferrara and Schroedl engaged the victim earlier in the evening, inquiring about his pull tab winnings. After the victim declined to reveal details about his winning ticket, the two men grew hostile.
Later that night, after the victim had won $1,000, he left the bar to meet a friend at a park near 15th Avenue NE and Monroe Street NE.
As the victim was exiting his vehicle, a small dark SUV with pink writing arrived. Ferrara and Schroedl allegedly emerged from the SUV. Schroedl demanded the victim’s bag while Ferrara brandished a handgun. Ferrara then reportedly shot the victim as he attempted to remove his cross-body bag.
Emergency Response
An off-duty paramedic who heard the gunshots rushed to the scene.
The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds: four in the left leg, two in the right leg, and two in the abdomen. Emergency responders administered first aid until an ambulance arrived, transporting the victim to Hennepin County Medical Center.
Suspect Apprehension and Evidence
Witnesses observed Ferrara and Schroedl fleeing in the dark SUV, which was driven by Schroedl. Police later discovered five spent 9mm cartridge casings at the intersection of 15th Avenue and Monroe Street.
Ferrara was apprehended on August 16 while sleeping in a car in an alley near Minnehaha Avenue and Snelling Avenue. During his arrest, police found a handgun between the driver’s seat and the center console, along with an AR-style pistol in the rear cargo area.
Ferrara, who had an outstanding felony warrant for firearm possession, was taken to HCMC after claiming to have ingested fentanyl. He is now held with a bail set at $150,000.
Authorities are still searching for Schroedl, who has a nationwide arrest warrant issued for his capture.

I was at that bar earlier in the day and Charlie stole 60 dollars from me. He asked if I would go half with him on a “sure win”. When he didn’t come back outside into the smoking area I went to go find him and he was pulling the tabs I had gone half with him on . He handed me a few he had left and I left the bar. Apparently he’d been putting an exorbitant amount of money in those pull tabs and was not going to put up with losing all that money. What an asshole.
