GRAND FORKS, ND – An 80-year-old former North Dakota state senator and public school teacher is facing decades in prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to traveling to Czechia more than a dozen times for the purpose of having commercial sex with young boys, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

Ray Holmberg pleaded guilty to one count of traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, and faces up to 30 years in prison. His sentencing date has not yet been set.

According to court documents, Holmberg made approximately 14 trips to Prague between 2011 and 2021 for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts with minor boys.

On some trips, the crazed sex pervert used the alias “Sean Evans” and stayed at a brothel that provided young boys for sexual services.

Holmberg also procured sex from minor boys in a public park in front of Prague’s main train station, prosecutors said.

Using the “Sean Evans” alias, Holmberg communicated with friends about his trips to Prague, describing his “twink” and stating, “no one is ever too young . . . remember Prague.”

In one email to a friend, Holmberg provided a link to the brothel Villa Mansland and wrote, “[l]et’s go, this summer . . . The boys rent at around $60 (sex is extra).” Holmberg later wrote, “it will be decadent but oh so much fun bro. What happens in Prague—Stays in Prague.”

In another email, a requested that a brothel employee find him a “kid.”
