WEST MELBOURNE, FL – A professional ballroom dancer from Palm Bay, Florida, has been taken into custody after an alleged hit-and-run involving a motorcyclist. The incident occurred at a busy West Melbourne intersection, where the 24-year-old driver reportedly fled the scene, leaving the motorcyclist in critical condition.

Crash Leaves Motorcyclist Severely Injured

The accident took place early Sunday morning at the intersection of US 192 and Dairy Road in West Melbourne. Authorities say the motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man, was thrown from his bike after being struck.

The impact was so severe that his helmet was knocked off, leaving him vulnerable to life-threatening injuries. Instead of stopping to provide assistance, the suspect allegedly continued driving with the motorcycle still tangled in the front of her vehicle.

Bystanders reportedly witnessed the crash and alerted authorities after seeing the woman drive off without calling for help. The motorcyclist was eventually rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Arrest and Investigation

After fleeing the scene, the driver was spotted pulling into a nearby parking lot, attempting to remove the motorcycle from her vehicle. It is alleged that she made a phone call, after which she was picked up by another car.

Days later, Rebekah Makenzie Tate, 24, was arrested for leaving the scene of the accident and tampering with evidence.

The West Melbourne Police Department continues to investigate the incident, and Tate now faces serious charges. She has been booked into Brevard County Jail and is awaiting further legal proceedings.
