On January 31, the temperature in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport skyrocketed past the old record of 46 degrees – and that was before noon! Things are heating up!
But that’s not all. In southwestern Minnesota, near the scenic Buffalo Ridge, they saw a toasty 54 degrees! And brace yourselves because some lucky towns in southwestern Minnesota hit a whopping 60 degrees!
What The Heck Is Going On?
What’s going on, you ask? Well, it turns out we’re in the midst of the warmest winter on record for most of Minnesota. The Midwest Regional Climate Center confirms it – we’re shattering records left and right.
Sure, things might cool down a smidge as the week rolls on, but we’re still looking at temperatures a staggering 20 degrees above the norm. Highs in the mid-40s down south, and even the north won’t be too shabby with the 30s. And get this, the first week of February is set to be a scorching 20 degrees warmer than usual. We might finally see some more seasonable weather after that.’
