RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – A high-speed police pursuit took an unusual twist early Tuesday morning when a suspect abruptly stopped his vehicle in the middle of the street for a âfarewell kissâ from his girlfriend before surrendering to authorities. The dramatic moment unfolded as police followed the suspect through several California jurisdictions, ultimately bringing the chase to a close in Rancho Cucamonga.
The Chase Begins
The incident started at around 1 a.m. when officers from the Upland Police Department spotted a Chevrolet Tahoe wanted by the West Covina Police Department for felony evading.
As the officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off before the police could even activate their sirens. The suspect led the chase across multiple areas before eventually making his way into Rancho Cucamonga.
A Pause for Love
In an unexpected turn, the high-speed heartthrob brought the chase to an abrupt stop in the middle of a street. The suspectâs girlfriend then appeared from a nearby home, ran to the vehicle, and shared a brief âfarewell kissâ with him.
Following this moment, the driver surrendered to the police without further resistance. Authorities confirmed the suspect was booked on “several felony charges” after the event.
The Suspectâs Background
The passionate suspect, whose identity has not been released, is currently on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. In a photo shared by police, the driverâs face was blurred, but a loaded gun was clearly visible inside the vehicle, which was later seized by authorities.
