ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL – Online gaming turned sinister for one Florida family when a 10-year-old boy allegedly received horrifying instructions from a stranger on Roblox. Authorities say the child was manipulated into dropping a 2-month-old baby on the kitchen floor, leaving the infant seriously injured.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said they began their investigation on October 17, after being alerted by Gulf Coast Kid’s House, a nonprofit that aids child abuse victims in Pensacola. The organization reported the incident involving the injured baby, leading to a deeper probe that uncovered disturbing details.

Manipulation Unfolded in Roblox Chat

Investigators discovered that the boy had been communicating through Roblox with 36-year-old Tara Alexis Sykes. In messages revealed by the sheriff’s office, Sykes allegedly instructed the child on various methods to kill the infant. These included:

  • Drowning the baby in a bathtub.
  • Burning the baby with scalding water.
  • Dropping the baby onto the floor to end its life.

Plot to Kill Adults Also Exposed

The investigation also uncovered Sykes’ instructions for the child to harm the adults in the home. According to the sheriff’s office, she allegedly told the boy to:

  • Cut the throats of the adults while they slept.
  • Burn the house down by dousing bed sheets in aerosol spray and setting them on fire.

While the 10-year-old followed part of the instructions by soaking the sheets, he did not carry out the rest of the plan.

Sheriff Simmons: “Deeply Disturbing” Case

Escambia County Sheriff Chip W. Simmons expressed shock at the details of the investigation.

“I have been in law enforcement for over 40 years and have never seen anything quite like this,” Simmons said in a statement. “I am truly disturbed by the circumstances and the thought that anyone could think like this, let alone instruct these acts to be carried out. There is something really wrong with her.”

Charges Filed, Investigation Ongoing

Sykes is currently charged with attempted murder while engaged in aggravated child abuse. Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges could be filed as more information comes to light.

  1. The photos of Caucasian female who instructed the 10 y,/o child how to commit murder to an infant, and the black female who killed her boyfriend’s 5 y/o daughter are similar in their facial expressions. Knowing what they did, as read in this news report, may be presumptuously correct of me to notice they both have passive aggressive expression. This expression shows no empathy nor remorse, but rather a satisfaction they succeeded. These are evil women. Not only are they responsible for the death of two innocent children, they may have also traumatized the minds of the innocent 10 y/o and adult boyfriend, making them also victims of the crimes committed in so far as they may be at high risk to develop PTSD,. PTSD may come to these two male victims within seconds, weeks or years after the murders. I pray the prosecuting attorneys for each of these women convince the Judge there are 4 victims, two are dead and two may succumb to self destruction or suicide should PTSD overwhelms themselves with guilt throughout the days of their lives. I pray neither leaves their designated prisons until.their death, should it be the will of God.
