ROCHESTER, MNRochester, Minnesota police dealt with two alarming incidents over the weekend, both involving teenage boys and stolen property. From a late-night altercation with gunfire to a dramatic crash involving a stolen vehicle, these events highlight rising concerns about youth crime in the community.

Gunfire Erupts at Three Links Park

Late Friday, October 18, police responded to a tense situation at Three Links Park, located at 840 7th Street NE. A group of teenagers had reported a heated altercation in the parking lot, which escalated when gunshots were fired.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found shell casings and a knife left behind. The suspects had already fled in a vehicle, but police soon tracked the car to a gas station on the 700 block of Broadway Avenue. There, a 14-year-old boy was arrested, found in possession of a stolen firearm.

Police confirmed that the teen faces multiple charges for his involvement.

Stolen Car Crash on 12th Street SE

The second incident unfolded two days later, on the evening of Sunday, October 20. Officers were called to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of 12th Street SE and 11th Avenue SE. Witnesses reported that one of the drivers, a 15-year-old boy, tried to escape on foot after the collision but was quickly stopped by bystanders.

Investigators determined that the teen’s vehicle had been stolen earlier that same night. Fortunately, the occupants of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries.

The teen was arrested at the scene and taken to the Anoka County Juvenile Detention Center. He now faces multiple charges stemming from the incident.
