Fancy a Side of Rice⌠with Rodent Crap?
MILWAUKEE, WI – Rice lovers in Wisconsin are on high alert after a shocking recall announcement! Over 27,000 bags of “Lundberg Family Farms Sustainable Wild Blend Gourmet Rice” have been pulled from shelves due to possible contamination by a “foreign object of rodent origin.”
What You Need to Know
The recall impacts 4,600 cases of the 16-ounce polybags of this gourmet rice blend. Each case contains six bags, totaling more than 27,000 individual bags.
The FDA first announced the recall on May 10, 2024, but it wasn’t classified as a “Class II” recall until July 17, 2024!
This classification means the product might cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects, though serious health consequences are unlikely.

The Rice in Question
This rice blend is a mix of black, brown, red, and wild rice, beloved by many for its unique taste and texture. The bags in question carry the UPC number 73416-00430, lot code 231004, and have a best-by date of October 4, 2024.
Where Was It Sold?
The affected products were sold in grocery stores across seven states: Arizona, California, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon, and our beloved Wisconsin.
While it’s crucial to check your pantry, other rice products from Lundberg Family Farms or different lot numbers of the Sustainable Wild Blend Gourmet Rice are not part of this recall.

What to Do If You Have the Recalled Rice
If you have a bag of this recalled rice, don’t panic. No illnesses have been reported from its consumption. However, you should throw it away immediately and contact your retailer for a refund.
This recall was issued “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a representative from Lundberg Family Farms.
Stay Safe, Wisconsin!
Wisconsin shoppers, be vigilant! Check your rice and ensure your family stays safe. Keep an eye out for any updates and remember to spread the word to friends and family. Food safety is no joke, and it’s always better to be cautious. Stay informed and keep those pantries pest-free!
