MOORHEAD, MN – A Moorhead, Minnesota family is receiving an outpouring of support after a fire destroyed their home. The fire, which broke out on Thursday, has left the Santoya family grappling with immense loss, but their community has stepped up in response.
In addition to losing their home, one of the Santoya children had to be hospitalized after suffering from smoke inhalation. The child bravely escaped the flames by jumping from a second-story window.
In the face of such heartbreaking loss, we are reminded of God’s presence in our trials. As we extend support to the Santoya family, let us remember the words of Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Even in times of despair, God is with us, providing comfort and strength through our faith and the kindness of others.
To help the family in their time of need, a GoFundMe campaign was launched, aiming to raise funds for temporary housing, essential clothing, school supplies, and eventually, a complete rebuild of the Santoya home. Check out the GoFundMe campaign here.
The campaign highlights the emotional and financial challenges ahead for the family.
“The Santoya family is now faced with the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives from scratch,” the GoFundMe page reads. “As you can imagine, the emotional and financial burden will be immense.”
As of Wednesday morning, the fundraiser had exceeded expectations, raising $18,800 — far surpassing the initial $10,000 goal. Donations continue to come in as the community rallies around the family to provide much-needed support during this difficult time.
Community members are encouraged to donate and spread the word as the Santoyas begin the long process of recovery.
