MEMPHIS, TN – The “Sea of Blue” memorial event in honor of fallen Memphis Officer Demetrice Johnson took place last night, Wednesday, August 14.
The ceremony began at 8 p.m. at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 7289 Stage Road, as announced earlier by the Memphis Police Department.
Officer Johnson tragically lost his life on Friday, August 2, when his police cruiser was struck by a driver who had been shot earlier. The driver also died in the collision. Another officer in the cruiser was critically injured and taken to the hospital.
In the face of this heartbreaking tragedy, let us remember the words of Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
