ABC on Thursday announced on “Good Morning America” that the two-time Olympic bronze medalist will be joining “DWTS” as the first male gymnast to compete on the show.
Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are set to return as co-hosts for the upcoming season, and Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will be returning to judge. The remaining contestants are set to be announced at a later date.
Nedoroscik, 25, launched to stardom at the Paris Olympics as the pommel horse specialist helped the U.S. men claim their first team medal in gymnastics in 16 years, and went on to win his own individual bronze medal on the apparatus.
In his appearance on “Good Morning America,” Nedoroscik showed off some of his pommel horse moves on the floor of the studio, and host Robin Roberts asked if he’ll be using any of his gymnastics moves on the dance floor.
“I’m hoping to bring some of them. I want to bring some flares, I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a back flip or hand stand. I want to have fun with it,” Nedoroscik said.
He said that when he was approached to join the reality competition series, his answer was an immediate “yes,” and said he’s “very excited” to perform.
