LAKEVILLE, MA – Talk about a holiday delivery disaster! Days before Christmas, an Amazon driver’s holiday stress led to an unexpected delivery mishap in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Police were left scrambling after discovering 80 Amazon packages abandoned in the woods, not far from 63 Bedford Street. The discovery raised eyebrows and prompted an investigation that revealed a driver’s moment of frustration.

A Routine Patrol Turns Into a Package Hunt

It all started at 2 a.m. on Sunday when Sgt. Shawn Robert was on a routine patrol. He noticed something strange—a pile of abandoned items in a wooded area. Upon closer inspection, the sergeant found three large totes, each filled with Amazon packages, scattered across the ground. The packages, which were spread out several feet into the woods, had been left unattended overnight.

The police quickly gathered the packages, loaded them into a truck, and brought them back to the station for inventory. Chief Matthew Perkins provided an update on Monday, revealing that the mystery of the packages was soon solved.

Driver Confesses to Stress-Fueled Mistake

On Monday, an Amazon driver walked into the Lakeville Police Department to take responsibility for the abandoned goods. According to the driver, the packages were left by the side of the road around 7 p.m. on Saturday evening due to stress. With the holidays approaching and the pressure mounting, the driver admitted to leaving the packages behind in a moment of frustration.

As the driver explained, they planned to inform their manager about the incident. Fortunately for the driver, police decided not to file any criminal charges, considering it a human resources matter for Amazon to address.

A Cooperative Resolution

In the end, the Lakeville Police worked quickly to resolve the situation. They contacted Amazon’s distribution center in Middleborough, where the packages were returned to their rightful owners. Though the holiday season brought chaos to one driver’s shift, it didn’t stop the Lakeville Police from quickly wrapping up the case. Santa, like all of us, appreciates the dedicated men and women of the Lakeville Police Department.
