When Will Prices Peak?

If you’re planning a domestic trip, expect to see prices hit their peak around the end of May and early June. We’re talking an average of $315 for a roundtrip ticket. Yikes! That’s enough to make your wallet cry.

But hey, it’s not all bad news. While prices might be similar to or even higher than last summer, they’re still lower than the pre-pandemic days of 2019. So, silver lining, right?

What About International Travel?

Jetsetters, listen up! If you’re dreaming of far-off destinations, you might want to start saving those pennies. Airfare prices to most parts of the world are still higher than they were before the pandemic. The only exception? Canada. But even then, prices are up 7% compared to last summer and a whopping 32% compared to 2019.

Of course, now is a good time for us to encourage you skip the fancy flights and explore the marvelous Midwest! With 12 amazing states to pick from, you’ll find adventure in every corner of the heartland – and a vacation in the Midwest can save you some moola! (Sorry, we said “moola”, we have Wisconsin on our mind).

Prepare for Some Turbulence

It’s not just the prices that might make your travel plans a little bumpy. Hopper’s lead economist, says to expect more disruptions, especially during the peak summer months of June, July, and August. So, maybe consider adding some rebooking services to your trip, just in case.

Where Are Travelers Headed?

While the big cities will always be a draw, Hopper says that more and more travelers are looking for those hidden gems. Places like Cape Cod, Cody, and Bar Harbor are topping the list of domestic hotspots.

And if you’re looking to stamp that passport, Osaka, Seoul, and Nice are the international destinations to watch.

The Bottom Line

Summer travel is always a thrill, but this year, it might come with a bit of a price tag. So, start saving, book smart, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!
