GREENSBORO, NC – Police in North Carolina are seeking the public’s help after a young woman was found dead on a picnic table at a park Sunday night.
The Greensboro Police Department said officers responded to a park on the 2900 block of Haig Street at around 7:27 p.m. Sunday after a caller reported concern about a woman lying on a picnic table under a pavilion.
The caller initially said the woman wasn’t moving, but on closer inspection reported that the woman was not breathing and appeared to have gunshot wounds. The caller said they heard what sounded like fireworks about an hour earlier.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Jakala Marie Goode, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Police said they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
