ASHLAND CITY, TN – Authorities have arrested a man accused of hatching a dangerous plan to set fire to an artificial intelligence center owned by billionaire Elon Musk. Hailing from Ashland City, Tennessee, the 25-year-old, driven by anger toward Musk and President Donald Trump, allegedly gathered materials to create a powerful incendiary substance. Law enforcement acted swiftly, landing the suspect in jail with a hefty bond.

Suspect’s Plan Takes Shape

Ethan Paul Early, now in custody, reportedly grew furious with Musk and Trump, focusing his rage on the xAI data center in Memphis.

On February 19, a worried friend tipped off Ashland City police after Early revealed his intentions. Court documents reveal he had started collecting supplies to craft thermite—a potent blend of aluminum powder and iron oxide known for its extreme heat, often used in welding.

The friend managed to dissuade Early from following through and convinced him to ditch the materials.

When police visited his home, Early confessed to venting his frustrations to a few pals about wanting to destroy the facility. He admitted to purchasing thermite ingredients, driven by a sense that he needed to take action after growing deeply upset over political matters.

A Change of Heart

During the police interview, Early explained he had researched thermite production but later recognized his reaction went overboard. Feeling regret, he discarded the collected items on February 17, two days before the investigation began.

Authorities took him into custody, booking him into Cheatham County Jail, where he remains on a $500,000 bond.

Musk’s xAI in the Spotlight

Elon Musk, the visionary behind Tesla and SpaceX, also leads xAI, which operates the targeted Memphis facility. The data center has drawn attention for its substantial energy demands, though Early’s specific grievances with Musk and Trump remain unclear.

As Musk’s influence grows—he recently took on a role heading the Department of Government Efficiency—so too have threats against him. Just weeks ago, we reported the story of an Indiana man who was arrested for allegedly posting violent threats against Musk online.

Ongoing Investigation

Early now faces serious charges, including committing an act of terrorism. Police continue to piece together the full scope of his intentions, while the case shines a light on rising tensions tied to high-profile figures like Musk.

For now, the Memphis xAI facility stands intact, and Early awaits his next day in court.
