EAGLE PASS, TXTexas law enforcement intercepted two undocumented migrants sporting full scuba gear and underwater propulsion equipment during an alleged attempt to cross the Rio Grande on Thursday, marking one of the more unusual border crossing incidents in recent memory.

Creative Crossing Methods

The suspects, who authorities say are from Guatemala and Mexico, took border crossing creativity to new depths by donning complete wetsuit gear and bringing along a water propulsion device reportedly intended for navigating the river’s currents.

Sharp-Eyed Residents Aid Arrest

The unusual apprehension began when an alert resident contacted Eagle Pass Police Department about suspicious activity in a south Eagle Pass neighborhood.

Responding officers located two men attempting to conceal themselves beneath a bridge, still clad in their diving equipment.

Legal Processing and Next Steps

Following their arrest, the individuals were transferred to United States Border Patrol custody for processing.

The Eagle Pass Police Department continues to encourage local residents to report any suspicious activities by contacting their dispatch center at 830-773-9044. Cops say this incident demonstrates how community awareness plays a crucial role in border security efforts.
