FORT WORTH, TX – Five people were killed in a fiery crash in Texas in the early hours of Monday morning, and a 19-year-old driver was arrested, police said.
The Fort Worth Police Department said officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 4800 block of South Freeway near the Seminary Drive exit at around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Investigators learned a black Camaro traveling “at a high rate of speed” crashed into the rear of a sedan, causing it to catch fire with five people inside.
None of the sedan’s occupants survived. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office was expected to release the victims’ identities after their families had been notified.
The driver of the Camaro, identified as 19-year-old Eduardo Gonzalez of Fort Worth, sustained “serious injuries” and was transported to a hospital for treatment before being taken to jail, police said.
Gonzalez is charged with five counts of intoxication manslaughter with vehicle and driving while intoxicated.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
