WINONA, MN – Last night, I had the pleasure of checking out The Lafayette, Winona, Minnesota’s newest cocktail lounge, for Kitty’s birthday celebration. Joined by Jack and our fellow reporter, Emma, we got to experience what this chic new spot on 3rd and Lafayette streets has to offer.
With a cozy yet upscale vibe, The Lafayette is adding something unique to our small town—an elegant twist on the classic cocktail bar.
What’s Good?
The ambiance is inviting, modern, and just plain cool. The decor, with its sleek lines and warm tones, makes it easy to settle in, while the water vapor fireplace feature adds a touch of sophistication. Whether you’re here for a relaxing after-work drink or a fun Saturday night, The Lafayette sets the mood perfectly.
As for drinks, the cocktail menu doesn’t disappoint. Our favorite? The espresso martini—a smooth, rich treat with just the right hit of caffeine to keep the energy going.
And if you’re feeling snacky, The Lafayette has you covered with a small selection of charcuterie and snacks, perfect for sharing. While they aren’t offering a full dinner menu, the light bites pair perfectly with their cocktail selection.
What’s Not So Good?
While The Lafayette hits all the right notes inside, they’ve opted to keep things pretty low-key online—meaning no website, social media, or even a phone number. This is pretty frustrating if you’re like me and enjoy planning ahead or want to know what you can expect before you spend your hard earned money on an unknown.
It’s rare to find a place in 2024 that keeps itself so hidden offline, and while some may find that refreshingly old-fashioned, others might prefer a way to check out the menu or make plans in advance. This place is pretty new, so hopefully this lack of online resources will change over time. It’s not a big deal – and hopefully this article will help you plan your visit! Hehe.
That said, the word is already spreading quickly, and plenty of locals in our small town are stopping by to see what all the buzz is about!

The Lafeyette is located on the corner of 3rd and Lafayette (across from the stunning Merchants National Bank). For GPS use: 79 E 3rd St, Winona, Minnesota 55987.
There is plenty of free on-street parking as well as bike parking on the sidewalk.
Hours
- Sunday: 11 AM – 6 PM
- Monday & Tuesday: 3 PM – 9 PM
- Wednesday & Thursday: 3 PM – 10 PM
- Friday: 2 PM – 11 PM
- Saturday: 12 PM – 11 PM
They don’t take reservations and don’t list a phone number, so it’s first-come, first-served! Pop in for a drink, enjoy the ambiance, and embrace the offline experience—it’s all part of The Lafayette’s charm.
