FARIBAULT, MN – Minnesota‘s love for flannel and hotdish will take center stage on Saturday, March 1, 2025, as the Faribault Flannel Formal and Hotdish Showdown return for another year of cozy, culinary fun. Hosted by the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce, this iconic event will celebrate Midwestern traditions with flannel fashion, hotdish competitions, and more. My hubby Jack is seriously considering entering his tater tot hotdish. LOL.
A Night of Flannel and Festivities
The event will take place at Faribault’s “Craft Beverage Curve” in the heart of Downtown Faribault. The venue includes popular spots like 10,000 Drops Craft Distillers and Corks & Pints, ensuring attendees have access to a variety of craft beverages to complement the evening’s activities.
Running from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the 21-and-over event promises live music, games, and food to keep everyone entertained. Southeast Minnesota band Buffalo Alice will perform, offering a blend of classic rock and country music to set the mood. Attendees will also receive a collectible pint glass as a keepsake.
The Hotdish Showdown
The highlight of the evening is undoubtedly the Hotdish Showdown. Aspiring chefs can put their family recipes to the test, competing for the title of Hotdish Champion.
Participants are required to prepare 6-7 quarts of their dish, maintain it at a safe serving temperature of 140 degrees, and be ready to serve by 5:00 p.m. Tasters and judges will sample each entry, with a suggested $5 donation for tasters, distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Attendees can also participate in lumberjack games and a Flannel Fashion Contest. This year’s dress code encourages guests to embrace the lumberjack aesthetic with blue and red flannel attire.
Prizes await those who impress with their style or culinary skills.
