The Thirty-fourth “Red Bull” Infantry Division
On this Veterans Day, we cast a warm, grateful spotlight on the Midwest’s own “Red Bulls,” a lineage of heroes whose tenacity and heart have carved paths through history’s most challenging terrains. Their legacy, born from the rolling plains and tight-knit communities of the heartland, is a stirring reminder of the spirit that binds us, especially poignant as we honor those who’ve worn the uniform with unwavering valor. 🇺🇸❤️
From Camp Cody to World War I
The Thirty-fourth “Red Bull” Infantry Division is a group from the Midwest whose bravery stretches from the days of World War I to the present.
Back in 1917, these soldiers from Minnesota and neighboring states gathered, ready for war. They trained in New Mexico’s heat, expecting to battle in France, but ended up lending their strength elsewhere. Although they never saw combat in WWI, their journey was far from over. 🌍
World War II: Reactivation and Deployment
As WWII loomed, the “Red Bulls” were called back into action, training in Louisiana before heading to Europe. They were the first U.S. division deployed, preparing in Ireland before stepping into the fray. They became a symbol of tenacity and bravery, enduring the grueling conditions of North Africa and pushing through to the pivotal battles in Italy. 🎖️
Battling Through Europe
They faced the tough terrain and enemy defenses head-on, from the sands of Algiers to the mountains around Monte Cassino, and then onto Anzio, finally breaking through to Rome. Their campaign didn’t stop until the Po Valley, their spirit captured by their motto “Attack, Attack, Attack”. They saw more combat days than any other American division in WWII. ⚔️
Reshaping and Rebirth
Despite being disbanded in the ’60s, the division’s storied past was not forgotten. Reformed in 1991, the Minnesota-based “Red Bulls” carried the legacy forward. They’ve since answered the call to serve across the globe, standing guard in places like Bosnia, Egypt, and Iraq, and enduring long deployments to protect freedom. 🌐
Dual Role: Overseas and Homefront Defense
Their service goes beyond the battlefield. They’re first responders in times of need, helping out during natural disasters and emergencies back home. They’ve become the embodiment of dual defenders—of both the nation and their local communities. 🛡️
Salute to Service: Honoring All Veterans
As we honor the “Red Bulls” this Veterans Day, we recognize all veterans for their invaluable service. They are the ones who protect our past, safeguard our present, and light the way for our future. To all who have served, we owe an immense debt of gratitude. Thank you, veterans, for everything. 🇺🇸🤍
