BARRON COUNTY, WI – Cops in typically serene Barron County, Wisconsin, never imagined they’d arrive to find a woman outside the house, lying in a pool of blood. Sadly, one local home became the scene of a gruesome stabbing that left two victims deadājust hours after a scheduled meeting between a married couple going through a separation.
Authorities are now piecing together the grim details of this tragic event that unfolded just north of Chetek, Wisconsin, as both victims were discovered with fatal stab wounds. The situation, still under investigation, has left the community stunned and questioning how a routine visit turned deadly.
Woman Found Dead Outside, Husband Found Inside Home
The unsettling discovery came on the afternoon of December 16, when a 911 call sent local authorities rushing to a home located just north of Chetek. Upon arrival, Barron County deputies found a woman outside the house, lying in a pool of blood.
She was later identified as Michelle Turnipseed. Tragically, she was declared dead at the scene.
Inside the house, investigators found her estranged husband, Michael Turnipseed, also dead from stab wounds. A knife was found next to his body, and authorities have since ruled both deaths as homicides.
Domestic Disturbance and a History of Tension
Authorities confirmed that Michelle and Michael were in the middle of a separation. The couple had been involved in an ongoing court case related to their marriage, although no āno-contactā order had been put in place. Michael was reportedly at the home just after noon, arriving for a meeting that was agreed upon by both parties.
This wasnāt the first time deputies had been called to this address. Back in September, a domestic disturbance brought law enforcement to the home, though no charges were filed at the time. Investigators now believe that the altercation that day could have been a precursor to the violent incident that followed.
No Immediate Threat to the Public
The investigation into this tragic double death is still unfolding, and while the case remains under active investigation, authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat. As the community comes to terms with the shocking events, questions linger about the final moments of Michelle and Michael Turnipseed’s tragic end.
