ARDMORE, OK – A truck driver’s unusual mishap led to a dramatic scene on I-35 yesterday, leaving a trailer hanging from a highway sign near mile marker 31 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver was raising the trailer while traveling down the interstate, apparently unaware of its height.
The trailer collided with an overhead sign, ripping it clean off the truck and leaving it suspended above the roadway. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The outside northbound lane of I-35 was closed for several hours as crews worked to safely lower the trailer.
A wrecker company brought in a crane to remove the trailer, causing a slowdown in traffic for much of the morning.
The accident has left many in the area talking about how such a mistake could occur. It serves as a reminder of the importance of being aware of vehicle dimensions, especially when operating large trucks on the highway.
