Meet Rachel Evangelisto: Miss Minnesota’s First Indigenous Queen

Rachel Evangelisto is a trailblazer and a woman of many accomplishments. As the first Indigenous woman to be crowned Miss Minnesota, she has broken barriers and made history. Rachel hails from the Standing Rock Tribe, specifically from the North Dakota side of the reservation in Fort Yates. Her heritage is deeply rooted in the Lakota Sioux Nation.

Rachel’s journey in the world of pageantry began at the age of 13 when she started competing. Over the years, she has earned several titles, including Miss Rapid City and Miss Winona. However, it was her win as Miss Minnesota that truly catapulted her into the spotlight.

During her reign as Miss Minnesota, Rachel traveled extensively throughout the state, embracing her role as an ambassador and advocate. She embarked on a mission to engage with all 11 tribal nations in Minnesota, showcasing her commitment to representing the diverse communities within the state.
