PLAINFIELD, IN – Two people had a narrow escape Monday morning when their truck slid off an icy road and crashed into a retention pond in Plainfield, Indiana. The harrowing incident came just after a winter storm left dangerous road conditions in its wake.

Rescue Teams Respond to Pond Incident

At around 9:15 a.m., emergency units rushed to the scene near Rockingham Way and Keystone Pass after reports of a truck in the water.

Firefighters found the vehicle had skidded off the road, sliding into a ravine before partially sinking into the icy pond. The two occupants were quickly rescued and were unharmed despite the perilous situation.

Bitter Cold and Snow Make Driving Treacherous

Temperatures hovered in the low 20s, with a high of just 28 degrees expected later in the day. The storm, which began Sunday night, brought heavy snow and icy conditions to the area.

The National Weather Service reported 7.8 inches of snow had fallen by the time the storm ended Monday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions for commuters across central Indiana.
