COLUMBUS, OH – A soaked and ‘terrified’ kitten rescued from an Ohio car wash tunnel last week has been named “Turbo Rinse,” and will soon be ready for adoption.

The Fayette Regional Humane Society said Turbo Rinse was discovered by an attendant near the turbo blaster section of the tunnel at the Ultimate Shine Car Wash on Crossing Drive in the city of Washington Court House, about 50 miles southeast of Dayton.

The orange and white tabby, believed to be about six weeks old, was “drenched and visibly shaken” after his ordeal in the car wash tunnel. Rescuers believe Turbo Rinse was hiding underneath a vehicle, and when the car entered the car wash, the high-pressure water jets flushed him from his hiding place.

“I heard a kitten meowing and followed the sound until I found him. He looked terrified, soaking wet, and shaking, so I brought him inside our main office and began drying him off as quickly as I could,” said Kierra Mills, the team lead at the car wash, who was conducting a routine inspection of the tunnel.

“We’re happy to be a part of the community and grateful for the work of the humane society,” said Ultimate Shine Car Wash Site Manager Jessica Bellomy.

The kitten was taken to Fayette Regional Humane Society, where the “fluffed-up furball” received a thorough check-up.

“Miraculously, Turbo appears to have escaped the ordeal without any injuries and now rests comfortably, receiving plenty of warmth and care,” the animal rescue said.

“This could have ended very differently if not for the attentiveness of the car wash staff,” said Brad Adams, FRHS Chief Humane Agent. “It’s a reminder to always check under your vehicle, especially if you have cats or kittens on your property.”

Fayette Regional Humane Society said that Turbo Rinse has “a touch of a cold,” and will be treated, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered before becoming available for adoption.
