EDINA, MN – As the old saying goes, “Fish and visitors stink after three days.” While this may seem harsh, there’s a kernel of truth to it. Overstaying your welcome can put a strain on even the strongest of relationships. So, how long is too long when it comes to being a guest in someone’s home?

🕰️ The Four-Day Rule

A recent survey shed some light on this age-old question. The Sleep Disruptors Survey, which polled 2,000 Americans, found that nearly half of the respondents believed that staying for four days or more as a guest was excessive. Interestingly, 79% of those surveyed said their guests typically adhered to this social norm, keeping their visits to four nights or less.

🎁 The Gift of a Graceful Exit

While it’s wonderful to spend quality time with loved ones, it’s equally important to know when to bid farewell. By keeping your visits short and sweet, you demonstrate respect for your hosts’ space and routines while also ensuring that everyone gets the rest they need.

So, the next time you’re planning a stay with friends or family, remember the four-day rule and the gift of a graceful exit. Your hosts (and your sleep schedule) will thank you.
