HORRY COUNTY, SC – A Walmart delivery driver in South Carolina was arrested after allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior just feet away from the front door of a woman whose groceries he had just dropped off. The disturbing incident, which occurred in July, has now led to a lawsuit against both the driver and Walmart for reckless actions.
The Shocking Discovery
On the morning of July 8, just after 9 a.m., Alvin Ortiz, 39, made a delivery to a woman’s home in Horry County. After dropping off the groceries at her doorstep, Ortiz parked his car in the victim’s driveway and reportedly remained in the vehicle for several minutes. It wasn’t long before the woman checked on him and was shocked to find that he was in the process of touching himself in his car.
Panicking, the woman quickly ran inside her home to grab her young child. The two sought refuge in a hiding spot while the woman called a neighbor for help.
The Neighbor’s Intervention
Upon receiving the call, the neighbor arrived at the scene and approached Ortiz’s car, only to witness him continuing his inappropriate behavior. The neighbor confronted Ortiz, which led to a verbal altercation. Ortiz then drove away, shouting violent threats from his vehicle as he sped off.
The next day, Ortiz was arrested for indecent exposure, and the case is still pending in court. The woman’s decision to call a neighbor for help may have prevented a worse situation.
Walmart Faces Lawsuit
The victim has filed a lawsuit against both Alvin Ortiz and Walmart, alleging negligence and recklessness. The lawsuit claims that Walmart failed to conduct a proper background check on Ortiz, which allowed him to be employed as a delivery driver despite his alleged actions. It also asserts that the company should be held responsible for his behavior while he was on the job.
In response to the lawsuit, Walmart expressed its commitment to customer and employee safety. The company stated that its legal team is reviewing the complaint and will respond to the court appropriately.
The case remains under investigation, with both the legal proceedings and potential consequences for Ortiz and Walmart still unfolding.
