SEATTLE, WA — A 42-year-old Seattle, Washington man’s alleged crime spree came to an end Monday when sharp-eyed detectives spotted him walking along 15th Avenue Northeast. The arrest capped what investigators say was a remarkable run of more than 20 bank robberies since January, with 15 of them happening right in Seattle.
The Art of the Heist
According to police, the suspect developed a signature approach: entering banks with his face obscured by masks and glasses, then quietly passing notes to tellers demanding cash.
This method proved effective enough to sustain a months-long series of successful robberies across King County.
The Fatal Flaw
The suspect’s downfall came from a single mistake – leaving behind a fingerprint at one of the crime scenes.
The Seattle Police Department’s Latent Print Unit used this crucial piece of evidence to identify their target.
The Final Hours
After receiving a tip about the suspect’s whereabouts, detectives conducted extensive surveillance on Monday.
Their patience paid off when they observed their target walking in the 13000 block of 15th Avenue Northeast, leading to his arrest.
What Happens Next
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released by authorities, now faces booking in King County Jail while investigators build their case.
While he’s currently held for investigation of robbery, police indicate additional charges are pending as they complete their investigation.
