TEMPE, AZ – A Wells Fargo bank employee in Arizona was found dead in her cubicle last week, four days after she last scanned into the office and after employees began smelling a foul odor, officials said.
Security at the Wells Fargo office in the 1100 block of West Washington Street called the Tempe Police Department after the body of 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme was found in her cubicle on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
She had last checked into work on Friday, Aug. 16 at around 7 a.m. and never scanned out.
According to police, Prudhomme was found in a cubicle on the third floor of the building, away from main aisles, and there were no obvious signs of foul play. Prudhomme’s cause of death has not yet been determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner.
An employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, told KPNX that employees had noticed a foul odor but believed it to be an issue with the plumbing. Prudhomme’s body was found by another employee who walked by.
“It’s really heartbreaking and I’m thinking, ‘What if I were just sitting there?'” another worker, also anonymous, told ABC News 12.
“To hear she’s been sitting at the desk like that would make me feel sick,” the worker told the outlet. “And nobody did anything. That’s how she spent her last moments.”
