What Cheer, Iowa – In this small town, there’s a treasure trove waiting for you. The What Cheer Flea Market, nestled in the Keokuk County Fairgrounds, is one of the Midwest’s largest and most incredible flea markets.
With a sprawling indoor/outdoor setup, this market boasts over 500 dealers from various states, offering a wide array of high-quality antiques and collectibles.
Mark your calendars for the 2024 dates: May 2-5, August 1-4, and October 3-6. The market has early bird hours each day. My hubby Jack and I like to arrive early to snag the best finds!

Know Before You Go: Tips for Visiting What Cheer Flea Market
- Busiest Time: Saturday is the busiest day, so expect more traffic and longer lines.
- Parking: There is no visitor parking on the grounds, so plan accordingly.
- Food Tips: To avoid long food lines, eat early or bring a snack to eat later. Lines are longest between 11am and 1pm. Don’t forget to mark your hometown on the map at the main concession (Thomas Hall).
- Concessions: There are 4 concession stands, plus a Popcorn shack and Funnel cake booth. Breakfast, lunch, and supper are available on the grounds, starting at 10:30am on Thursday. Concessions close at 2pm on Sunday.
- Comfort: Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes. Consider bringing sunscreen and a hat.
- Carrying Purchases: Bring a bag, wagon, or cart to carry your finds.
- Payment: Remember, when flea marketing – cash is king! Bring cash or use the ATM at Gate #1 or the Palace concession stand.
- Pets: Pets are welcome but must be on a leash and cleaned up after.
- Lost and Found: Located at the registration camper by Gate #1.

- Stay Hydrated: Remember to drink plenty of water.
- Market Hours: 8am – 4pm Thursday, 7am – 5pm Friday and Saturday, 7am – 2pm Sunday.
- Admission Fees: $6.00 on Early Bird Thursday, $4.00 on Friday and Saturday, and free on Sunday.
