JACKSONVILLE, FL – When a powerful hurricane tore through Florida, a mother sought safety at her son’s home—only to stumble upon a chilling scene. On October 9, as Hurricane Milton raged outside, the 71-year-old arrived at her 32-year-old son’s Jacksonville residence. The storm passed by the next day, but what she encountered inside would unravel a grim tale of violence.
Body Found in Bedroom
After the hurricane calmed, the son, Robert Hendrix, left the house to run errands.
Alone in the home, his mother entered a bedroom and came across a large brown tarp. Inside, she found the lifeless body of 43-year-old Kristin Carrier, Hendrix’s girlfriend. Shaken, the mother reached out to her daughter, who arrived to take her away from the scene.
Hendrix returned from the store to find his mother and sister waiting. When they confronted him about the body, he grew agitated, prompting the women to leave and contact police.
Police Uncover Evidence
Law enforcement arrived at the Jacksonville home just before 6 p.m. on October 10.
Officers noted blood splattered across the floor and walls, leading them to Carrier’s body near the bedroom entrance. Investigators gathered a knife, a baseball bat, and a gun from the scene, sending the items for forensic analysis.
Details of the results remain undisclosed.
Investigation Points to Murder
Authorities determined Carrier had suffered multiple gunshot and stab wounds, leading to her death.
A witness reported hearing her cries from a bedroom around 3 p.m. on October 9. Cellphone records confirmed she was alone with Hendrix in the home at the time. Detectives now accuse Hendrix of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
Suspect’s Arrest and Charges
Already a convicted felon, Hendrix faced immediate arrest for possessing a firearm. Officers also found methamphetamine in the home.
He has remained in Duval County Jail without bond since his arrest, with a court appearance set for March 12.
The investigation continues as authorities piece together the events that unfolded amid the hurricane’s fury.
